This research deals with the takhrij and critical study of the narrations concerning the greeting of trees and stones to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) before the commencement of his prophethood, as mentioned in the book Al-Sirah Al-Nabawiyyah by Imam Ahmad Zaini Dahlan. The study aims to determine the authenticity levels of these narrations by collecting them, examining their chains of transmission, and evaluating them according to the principles of hadith criticism.
The research adopts a descriptive-analytical approach in tracing the narrations related to this topic, utilizing the works of hadith criticism and authoritative sources of takhrij. The study concludes that these narrations vary in authenticity, ranging from sound (sahih), sound due to supporting evidence (sahih li ghayrihi), to weak (da‘if), indicating differences in their reliability.
It also reveals that the narrators found in the chains of these reports differ in their ranks, including reliable narrators, weak narrators, and those of unknown status, which highlights the importance of critical verification in the study of sirah narrations.
The research emphasizes the necessity of adhering to the methodological principles of hadith scholarship when dealing with narrations of the Prophetic biography, in order to distinguish authentic reports from weak ones and to ensure scholarly accuracy in understanding the Prophet’s life.
