Abstract

This research-based analytical study critically examines the life, scholarship, and jurisprudential contributions of Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani, one of the foremost contemporary Islamic jurists and scholars. The study explores his multidimensional role as a leading authority in Islamic jurisprudence (Fiqh), Islamic finance, and Quranic exegesis, highlighting his efforts in integrating classical Islamic knowledge with modern-day challenges. By analyzing his vast corpus of writings and legal opinions, the paper reveals how Mufti Usmani’s approach has shaped contemporary Islamic legal thought, particularly in the areas of Islamic banking, Shariah compliance, and ethical governance. The study further evaluates his influence on the global Muslim community and his engagement with contemporary issues such as secularism, modernity, and interfaith relations. It also critically discusses the methodological rigor and adaptability of his jurisprudential framework, assessing the balance he maintains between tradition and innovation. By situating Mufti Usmani within the broader spectrum of Deobandi scholarship and global Islamic reform, the research underscores his pivotal role in the revival and dissemination of authentic Islamic knowledge in the 21st century.
