ʿUmar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb (RA) stands as one of the most pivotal figures in Islamic history, inspiring extensive scholarly writing across generations. This study critically examines early Urdu works dedicated to his life and contributions, focusing specifically on the methodology (manhaj) and reasoning (istidlāl) employed by early authors. It highlights how these writers combined transmitted reports (riwāyah) with critical analysis (dirāyah), heavily relying on authentic sources such as the Qur'an, Hadith, and reliable historical traditions. Their approach maintained a balance between reverence and scholarly objectivity, ensuring accuracy and integrity in the portrayal of ʿUmar’s personality and achievements.
