Challenges and Opportunities of Artificial Intelligence: An Islamic Perspective

Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged as one of the most transformative technologies of the modern era, influencing nearly every aspect of human life. While it offers numerous benefits in fields such as healthcare, education, economy, and social welfare, it also presents significant intellectual, ethical, and religious challenges. This study explores the challenges and opportunities posed by AI from an Islamic perspective and examines whether contemporary technology can be harmonized with Islamic teachings. Drawing on the Qur’an, Hadith, principles of Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh), and the insights of Muslim scholars, the research analyzes key issues including human identity and agency, machine-based decision-making, the boundaries of halal and haram, and moral and social responsibilities. The objective is to propose a balanced framework that guides Muslim societies in leveraging AI responsibly while safeguarding religious and ethical values.
