Abstract

The Day of Judgment is described in the Qur’an and Hadith as a day of immense terror and awe. Among its most striking events is the nearness of the sun, which will profoundly impact humanity on both physical and psychological levels. People will be drenched in sweat, overcome with fear and anxiety, and desperately seeking salvation. At that critical moment, Allah Almighty will bestow upon His beloved Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) the honored position of Maqām Maḥmūd, through which he will intercede on behalf of the Ummah, thus serving as the primary means of divine mercy and ultimate deliverance. This study examines the proximity of the sun and its effects in the light of the Qur’an and classical exegeses, while also highlighting the significance of the Great Intercession. The research not only illustrates the hardships of the Day of Judgment but also emphasizes the moral call for humanity to prepare for the Hereafter through righteous deeds in this world.
