Tafsir Tarjuman al-Quran is the most renowned exegesis authored by Nawab Siddiq Hasan Khan. Written in Urdu, it holds a significant place in the field of Quranic exegesis, encompassing scholarly, intellectual, and spiritual dimensions. Nawab Sahib—a distinguished critic and a seasoned scholar of Hadith—possessed profound insight into the disciplines of Hadith and Asma al-Rijal (the study of narrators). He held a remarkable aptitude for critically evaluating narrations and discerning their underlying intent and purpose. Observing the shortcomings in earlier traditional commentaries, he resolved to compile an exegesis free from weak (da'if) and fabricated (mawdu') Hadiths as well as Isra'iliyyat (Israelite traditions); consequently, he structured this work according to the rigorous methodology of Hadith scholars, and he certainly succeeded in this endeavor to a significant extent.
