Abstract

This research article examines the religious and social contributions of female Companions (Ṣaḥābiyyāt) from non-Arab tribes in the light of the Seerah of the Prophet Muḥammad (ﷺ). It aims to show how Islam, under the Prophetic guidance, integrated women from diverse ethnic and tribal backgrounds and provided them opportunities for religious growth and social responsibility. Adopting a qualitative, descriptive-analytical approach, the study relies on primary Seerah and ḥadīth sources, alongside classical biographical and historical works, to trace their lives and services. The article discusses their religious roles, including learning Islamic teachings, observing religious obligations, supporting da‘wah, and contributing to the preservation and transmission of knowledge. It further highlights their social services such as charity, community welfare, caregiving, hospitality, and assistance to the poor and vulnerable. The study also reviews their participation in collective struggles and crises, including support roles in times of conflict and migration, reflecting their courage and commitment. Special attention is given to the Prophetic principles of equality, dignity, and merit, which reduced tribal barriers and strengthened a unified Muslim identity. The findings suggest that non-Arab Ṣaḥābiyyāt played a significant part in shaping early Islamic society through faith-based leadership, service, and moral influence.
