Abstract

Islamophobia is not just a modern invention, it is rooted in centuries of historical conflict, particularly the Crusades. These wars created an enduring image of Muslims as religious and cultural enemies. That narrative has evolved but still influences how Islam and Muslims are perceived in many Western societies today. The legacy of the Crusades lives on in political discourse, media portrayals, and societal attitudes, contributing to the persistence of Islamophobia in the modern world.
