The Interpretative Insights of Shaykh Abul Hasan Ali Nadwi in the Exegesis of the Holy Qur'an

Abstract

Syed Abul Hassan Ali Nadwi is a distinguished intellectual figure in the Muslim world. Born in India, he completed his academic studies at Nadwa-tul-Ulama and Dar-ul-Uloom Deoband. He gained international recognition at a young age through his renewed book “ما ذا خسر العالم بانحطاط المسلمين” (What the word lost due to Decline of Muslims), which became so influential that many institutions across the globe incorporated it into the curricula.

Syed Nadwi authored over two hundred works in Urdu, Arabic and other languages, covering a wide array of subjects including the Quran, Hadith, Seerah, Islamic history, Biographies and other critical fields of Islamic scholarship. Although he did not compose a complete tafseer (exegesis) of the Quran, his writings and sermons reflect a profound understanding of the Quran, its sciences and a deep spiritual connection with its message. The exegetical insights found in his works hold significant scholarly value.

This article seeks to collect and examine these exegetical insights and interpretation from his books and sermons, with a particular focus on highlighting his interpretative methodology. The material for this study is drawn from his published works, recorded lectures, sermons and posthumous analyses office intellectual legacy.

It is hoped that this article will shed light on Syed Abul Hasan Ali Nadwi's unique approach to Quranic interpretation and affirm his enduring contributions to Islamic scholarship. جزاء الله عن!ا أحسن الجزاء. آمين
