This study explores the manifestations of criticism and satire in modern Arabic poetry as reflective tools for engaging with the prevailing social and political realities of the Arab world. Amidst historical upheavals, colonial legacies, authoritarian regimes, and sociocultural constraints, Arabic poets have increasingly turned to satire and critical expression as means of resistance, awareness, and reform. The paper analyzes a selection of poetic works from prominent modern Arab poets to examine how language, imagery, and tone are employed to critique oppression, expose societal contradictions, and voice dissent. It also investigates the role of satire as both a literary device and a form of socio-political commentary, highlighting how poets navigate censorship and cultural taboos. By situating these literary expressions within their historical and geopolitical contexts, the study underscores poetry’s enduring role in shaping public consciousness and articulating collective struggles in modern Arab societies.
